Paolo G. Piacquadio is Associate Professor of Applied Economics at the School of Economics and Political Science since February 1st 2022. Prior to joining the University of St.Gallen, he was Associate Professor at the University of Oslo and Researcher at Statistics Norway. Paolo Piacquadio has published in prestigious economic journals, such as Econometrica, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Oxford Economic Papers, Social Choice and Welfare, etc. He is among the top 100 economists in the latest Handelsblatt ranking by research output during the last 5 years, top 50 in the category under 40.
His research is financed by various grants, among which:
- “Value Judgments and Redistribution Policies” (VALURED), 2019-2024, Principal Investigator, financed by the European Research Council (Horizon2020);
- “Make Taxation Fair” (TaxFair), 2021-2026, Principal Investigator, financed by the Norwegian Research Council (FRIPRO);
- “Inequality: Measurement, Evolution, Mechanisms, and Policies” (IMEMP), 2017-2022, Co-principal Investigator, financed by the Norwegian Research Council (FRIHUMSAM).
Paolo Piacquadio also serves as Associate Editor of Mathematical Social Sciences and is co-organized of the webinar series “Welfare Economics & Economic Policy”. In 2021, he received the “Fridjof Nansen Award for excellence in science” (humanities and social sciences, under 40).
