Dates and Location
The conference will take place in St. Gallen, on the 23th and 24th October 2015, and is co-organized and supported by the University of St. Gallen. Arrivals are expected on Thursday evening, October 22. The workshop will end on Saturday afternoon. Departures are thus expected not before Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
Format
The workshop aims to bring together researchers from finance and all fields of economics with research interests in finance and growth. We aim at a mix of theoretical and empirical papers exploring the role of the financial sector and the institutional environment in shaping structural change, capital reallocation, innovation and growth. The themes below are indicative:
• Finance, growth and inequality
• Determinants of access to capital
• Capital allocation and productivity growth
• Capital reallocation within and between firms
• Real effects of venture capital financing
• Specialization of banks, venture capital and financial markets
• Determinants of equity and stock market financing
• Bankruptcy decision and public regulation
• Regulation of banks, stability and credit channel
• Tax distortions, corrective taxes and the financial sector
The organizers will bring together around 25 economists for the two day period.
